In a Nutshell:
The employee resource group for older employees in a leading chemical company was looking for ways to support their employees 50+ to proactively shape the later part of their careers and transition to retirement. EmployAgility aligns well with the company’s desire to retain experienced employees and their commitment to lifelong learning.
Objective:
The company was looking for an intervention to inspire the members of their employee resource group for older employees. The events of this group are offered to employees 50” on a voluntary basis to create a community in which people can share experience and shape their futures within the company.
Solution:
We held a couple of EmployAgility Awareness sessions – interactive and online – and gave employees access to the online self-reflection module. As a follow up people voted on the dimensions they wanted to explore in more detail. This lead to workshops focused on Networking and focused on Learning in which employees used tools and techniques to deep-dive and take real action to build their openness and self-efficacy in these areas.
Results:
The feedback from participants was overwhelming. People appreciated the opportunity to stop and reflect, to discuss with peers and to identify small, realistic things they can do to gain a sense of agency and proactively adapt to what is happening in their professional – and private – lives.
One of the participants contacted us a couple of years later to share how our intervention had dramatically changed for the positive, how he viewed the last few years of his career and his approach to preparing for retirement.
